## About PADD 1 (East Coast) propane stocks

PADD 1 combines the three East Coast storage areas this site also pages separately: New England, the Central Atlantic and the Lower Atlantic. The region produces little propane of its own, so most of what fills these terminals and storage tanks arrived by pipeline from the Gulf Coast or by ship rather than from nearby gas plants, which makes the East Coast a consuming region rather than a producing one. Stocks here still build from spring through summer and draw down through the heating season like the national total, but on a thinner local supply cushion, so a hard cold snap can strain deliveries faster than it would where the barrels originate. The five-year band shows whether that cushion is thicker or thinner than usual before winter; the three sub-regions below break out where within PADD 1 it sits.
