US propane exports ran at 1.921 million barrels per day in the latest EIA Weekly Petroleum Status Report, 30% above the 5-year median even as they pulled back 9% on the week. Mont Belvieu propane fell 3.4% on the week to $0.655/gal, 10% below the 5-year median per EIA's daily spot series. Primary stocks stood at 103.1 million barrels as of July 31, covering 166 days of supply at the trailing four-week domestic product-supplied average of 0.620 million barrels per day.

  • US demand (product supplied): 0.909 million b/d, up 89.4% week over week from the prior week's level, 3% above the 5-year median, per EIA's WPSR. The trailing four-week average of 0.620 million b/d is the denominator for the 166-day supply coverage figure.
  • PADD 3 (Gulf Coast) propane stocks: 66.7 million barrels, 32% above the 5-year median and essentially flat on the week per EIA's WPSR.
  • US propane imports: 0.062 million b/d, 39% below the 5-year median, down 10% on the week. PADD 2 (Midwest) imports at 0.019 million b/d ran 47% below their 5-year median.
  • PADD 1A (New England) propane stocks: 0.6 million barrels, up 41.2% week over week and 34% above the 5-year median, per EIA's WPSR.
  • PADD 1C (Lower Atlantic) propane stocks: 1.5 million barrels, 9% below the 5-year median, the furthest-below-normal reading in this week's EIA data.

EIA's Short-Term Energy Outlook projects US propane/propylene inventories of 98.5 million barrels at end of December 2026.
