US Propane Demand Up 78% on the Week, 59% Above the Five-Year Median
US propane demand hit 1.125 million b/d for the week ended Aug. 28, up 78.3% on the week and 59.3% above the five-year median. Exports reached 2.153 million b/d and Mont Belvieu rose to $0.736/gal.

US propane demand, measured by EIA's product-supplied series from the Weekly Petroleum Status Report, hit 1.125 million barrels per day for the week ended August 28, up 78.3% from the prior week and 59.3% above the five-year median. With exports running well above historical norms, both demand streams are drawing against the summer build as September opens.
- US propane exports: 2.153 million barrels per day, up 7% week over week and 39.2% above the five-year median, per EIA. The export pull continues to run well above the seasonal norm.
- Mont Belvieu propane spot: $0.736/gal, up 7.4% on the week and 1.7% below the five-year median, per EIA.
- PADD 3 propane stocks: 68.2 million barrels, 21.2% above the five-year median but down 2% on the week, per EIA's Weekly Petroleum Status Report.
- PADD 1A (New England) propane stocks: 0.8 million barrels, 57.3% above the five-year median. PADD 1B (Central Atlantic) at 5.3 million barrels sits 5% below the five-year median, the weakest regional position reported this week.
- PADD 1 propane imports: 0.010 million barrels per day, down 33% on the week and 37.5% below the five-year median, per EIA. PADD 2 imports at 0.014 million barrels per day are 54.8% below the five-year median.
US primary propane stocks totaled 107.4 million barrels as of August 28, covering 135 days of supply at the trailing four-week product-supplied average of 0.797 million barrels per day, per EIA's Weekly Petroleum Status Report. EIA's Short-Term Energy Outlook expects US propane/propylene inventories to reach 103.8 million barrels at the end of December 2026.
