PADD 2, the Midwest, opens heating season with propane stocks at 25.2 million barrels, 7% below the five-year median and the shortest regional position in the country. NOAA's Climate Prediction Center put last week at 59 LP-gas-weighted heating degree days, 23 HDD warmer than normal, and the season stands 34% warmer than normal year-to-date. The warm start has slowed early draws, but the Midwest enters the season below the five-year median with crop-drying demand still active.
